St. Patrick's Day Cocktail Guide with Mourne Dew Spirits
St. Patrick's Day is Ireland's most celebrated occasion — and whether you're marking it in Belfast, Dublin, London, or further afield, there's no better way to toast the day than with a glass of premium Irish spirits. At Mourne Dew Distillery, we've put together our favourite cocktail recipes for the 17th of March, all made with our handcrafted spirits from the Mourne Mountains.
The Mourne Shamrock Sour
A vibrant, crowd-pleasing cocktail that's as festive as it is delicious.
Ingredients (serves 1):
- 50ml Mourne Dew Irish Whiskey
- 20ml fresh lemon juice
- 15ml sugar syrup
- A splash of blue curaçao (just a few drops — it turns the drink a beautiful green when mixed with the lemon)
- 1 egg white
- Ice
Method: Dry shake all ingredients without ice, then add ice and shake again. Strain into a coupe glass. The result is a stunning green-tinged cocktail that's perfect for the occasion.
The Mourne Dew Irish Coffee
A classic that never goes out of style — and one that showcases our whiskey beautifully.
Ingredients (serves 1):
- 40ml Mourne Dew Irish Whiskey
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- Strong hot coffee (to fill the glass about two-thirds)
- Lightly whipped double cream to float on top
Method: Warm a heatproof glass with hot water, then discard. Add the whiskey and sugar, pour over the hot coffee, and stir to dissolve. Gently pour the lightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top. Do not stir — drink through the cream. Pure magic.
The Poitín Punch (for a crowd)
Hosting a St. Patrick's Day gathering? This punch serves 8-10 and is guaranteed to get the party started.
Ingredients:
- 300ml Mourne Dew Poitín
- 200ml fresh apple juice
- 100ml fresh lemon juice
- 50ml honey syrup
- 500ml ginger beer
- Ice and apple slices to garnish
Method: Combine the poitín, apple juice, lemon juice, and honey syrup in a large punch bowl over ice. Top with ginger beer just before serving and garnish with apple slices and fresh mint.
