Summer Entertaining with Mourne Dew: G&T & Cocktail Recipes

Summer in Ireland is something to be celebrated and when the sun does make an appearance over the Mourne Mountains, there's no better way to mark the occasion than with a beautifully crafted cocktail. Whether you're hosting a garden party, a barbecue, or a relaxed evening with friends, Mourne Dew spirits are the perfect companion for summer entertaining.

The Classic Mourne G&T

Simple, refreshing, and endlessly satisfying. Here's how to make the perfect Mourne Dew Gin & Tonic:

  • 50ml Mourne Dew Irish Gin
  • 150ml premium tonic water (we love a light, floral tonic)
  • Ice, plenty of it
  • Garnish: cucumber ribbon, fresh mint, and a twist of lime

Method: Fill a large balloon glass with ice. Pour over the gin, then gently top with tonic. Add your garnish and serve immediately. The botanicals in our gin shine beautifully against a light tonic, don't overpower them with anything too sweet.

Mourne Dew Gin Spritz

For something a little more festive, try this crowd-pleasing spritz:

  • 40ml Mourne Dew Irish Gin
  • 60ml elderflower cordial
  • Prosecco to top
  • Garnish: lemon slice and fresh elderflower (if in season)

Method: Combine gin and elderflower cordial over ice in a wine glass. Top with prosecco and garnish. Light, floral, and perfect for a summer afternoon.

Poitín Lemonade

Our poitín is wonderfully versatile and it makes a brilliant long drink for summer:

  • 40ml Mourne Dew Poitín
  • Fresh lemon juice (half a lemon)
  • 1 tsp honey or sugar syrup
  • Sparkling water to top
  • Garnish: lemon wheel and fresh thyme

Method: Shake the poitín, lemon juice, and honey with ice. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice and top with sparkling water. Garnish and enjoy.

Tips for Summer Entertaining

When serving spirits at a summer gathering, keep a few things in mind: always have plenty of ice, offer a non-alcoholic option alongside your cocktails, and let your guests explore the flavours by setting up a simple self-serve cocktail station with garnishes and mixers. A little card with the recipe goes a long way.

From all of us at Mourne Dew, here's to a brilliant Irish summer, however long it lasts!
